Generic TV Show Episode Ideas

 As a writer, I like to consider myself... on the better side of "terrible" (except - of course - for my overuse of em-dashes). But writing as in "putting words together so they sound pretty" and writing as in "actually coming up with a story" are two different things. I have an easier time riffing on other people's ideas than making my own.

In light of this, I've been trying out various methods to find the secret formula of plot writing, and one of them has been to write down a list of storylines you tend to find in every TV show ever. You know, things like "they swap bodies" or "they run a restaurant" or "one of them overhears the other complaining about someone, thinks they're talking about them, and goes on a bender". It's pretty biased towards cartoons and comedy shows, because that's what I mainly know.

If there are any plots I've missed, you can use the comment feature in the Google Doc to suggest a few of your own. I've already got two ideas added to it from the public already, so feel free to tell your friends if they need some help coming up with storylines for the imaginary TV show playing in their head.

Today I'm going to take a look at coding a character for 3D movement. We'll look at how to basically make an object move in Godot, then we'll explore making it move in different directions. Setting Up the Character Let's just get right to it. I've opened up a new Godot scene. The first thing we'll create is our character. Remember how scenes in Godot are all made of different nodes piled on top of each other? In the Scene Menu on the left of the screen, we can pick our first node. Which node do we want first? Well, since it's a 3D object we're making, we could pick "3D Scene" as our first node... or, to be more specific, we can click "other node" and add in a CharacterBody3D node. When we put the CharacterBody3D in, it will come up with a yellow exclamation mark saying that it wants a CollisionShape3D as a child of the node, so it can bump into other objects. Animating a Walk Cycle for a Character in Blender

 We've made a character model in Blender , and we've added bones to it so we can move it around. Now we can start moving this character into poses which we can save to create animations. I'm going to start with a simple bit of animation - the character walking forwards. This type of animation is called a "walk cycle", and if you look up walks cycles online, you'll find lots of reference images that show what poses we'll create and what order they'll go in. I often take cues from this image by idleworm.com, for example, since it has the cartoony look I'm going for: We only need to worry about the first five poses for Blender. Making a Basic 2D Platformer in Godot

  Anyone going into games development for the first time in the past few years will have heard of Brackeys - back when Unity was the indie dev's weapon of choice, the Brackeys channel contained some of the most intuitive and comprehensive tutorials for the engine on the Internet. What it had, and still has, over many tutorials out there is quite simple - it explains things in basic English . I can't tell you how many times I've opened up a tutorial just to have a bunch of words thrown at me that mean nothing to someone who hasn't touched the engine before (which I have in the past, but not without a ton of mistakes and misunderstandings).
